About Us

In 1923, Herman Mawhinney, originally from the Hamilton club and later based in Montreal, moved to Winnipeg. There, he and ten other men convened at the St. Charles Hotel on December 17, 1923, with Alf Rosevear chairing the meeting to discuss forming a club locally.
A little over a month later, on January 29, 1924, the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg was officially chartered, with Alf Rosevear appointed as its inaugural president. The first general membership meeting followed on February 20, 1924.

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg was the third Kinsmen Club established in Canada and the first in Western Canada. Today, with the Montreal club no longer in operation, it stands as the second-oldest active Kinsmen Club in the country, surpassed only by the founding Hamilton Club.
Notably, Winnipeg played host to the first national Kin Canada convention in 1926, marking the city as a foundational hub in the service club’s national development.

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg is a part of Kin Canada, a group of clubs across the country committed to serving the community's greatest needs.
