The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has approved a financial contribution of $10,000 towards the continued success of the 199th (St. Vital) Royal Canadian Air Cadets squadron.
Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They learn valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership, and citizenship. Cadets also reap the personal benefits of increased self-confidence and physical fitness, learning how to take initiative, and how to make decisions. Cadets make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities.
The 199th Air Cadets work with their members in an atmosphere that respects their rights and provide a safe and nurturing place for young people to learn about aviation and leadership.

$5,000.00 for the PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy
At least one in six adult Manitobans has severe difficulty using written materials to perform routine tasks. Another one in six has moderate difficulty. Low literacy costs Canadian society approximately $10.7 billion annually, with Manitoba's share of this cost adding up to over $375 million each year.
The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg is once again donating $5000 towards the PGI Golf Tournament for Literacy. It is our hope that the Literacy Partners of Manitoba will continue running this successful fundraiser every year. We believe that our donation will help towards the success of this tournament.

$35,000.00 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg
Address: Big Brothers / Big Sisters
Winnipeg, Mb
The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $35,000.00 to the Big Brothers / Big Sisters program of Winnipeg. This money will be used to fund their entire program for 2006.
Little Sisters and Little Brothers come from all areas of the city and are no different from other children. Many, though not all, come from single parent homes. They all have the same need -- an adult from outside the home to be a friend.
Whether you're young or old, married or single, a professional or a homemaker, you can be a Big Brother or Big Sister. You don't need special training. You don't need a lot of money. All you need are your own personal reasons for wanting to help a child. Maybe you want to make a difference with one child - to show what caring means. You have much to give, and much to share with a child in need of a special friend.
