Debbie Bonkowski Trust Fund

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $1,000 to the trust fund of a family of a single mother suffering from cancer. The trust fund has been setup to ensure the ongoing support of the three children in the family.
Update: We are sad to hear about the passing of Debbie Bonkowski on January 11th, 2005. Our deepest condolences go out to her family. Her obituary can be seen here:

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $100,000 to the capital campaign of the Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre.
The Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre is the cardiac rehabilitation centre in Western Canada. Opened in 1979, the Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre was the very first exercise-based cardiac institute of its kind in Canada, and the third facility to be opened in all of North America.
The Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre's Mission is to provide "personalized professional health and fitness services through assessment, education, exercise and encouragement in a caring environment for the benefit of health conscious adults"
We believe that "Lifestyle and behaviour change is the responsibility of individuals who, through processes of education, awareness, and encouragement, can be empowered to increase their control over factors that influence their health"

Wheelchair Access Modifications - Spina Bifida

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $3,600 to the family of a young man with Spina Bifida, to be used towards wheelchair access modifications in his home.
Spina bifida (SB) is a neural tube defect (a disorder involving incomplete development of the brain, spinal cord, and/or their protective coverings) caused by the failure of the fetus's spine to close properly during the first month of pregnancy. Infants born with SB sometimes have an open lesion on their spine where significant damage to the nerves and spinal cord has occurred.

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $5,000 to Winnipeg Harvest towards the purchase of Baby Formula for their Christmas drive.
Winnipeg Harvest is a non-profit, community-based organization. It is committed to providing food to people who struggle to feed themselves and their families. It is also committed to maximizing public awareness of hunger while working towards long-term solutions to hunger and poverty.

Special Olympics Manitoba - Winnipeg Region

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has donated $20,000 towards the Winnipeg Region of Special Olympics Manitoba.
The Special Olympics' Mission is to provide opportunities for people with an intellectual disability to participate to their level of choice in quality athletic and sport training programs and competitive experiences.
