The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has sponsored a student for Kin Canada Bursaries, a project of the Hal Rogers Endowment fund for 2005. The application for this student will be reviewed by Kin Canada Bursaries, and will be eligible for a $1000 scholarship.

We have also decided to choose 5 more worthy students that submitted an application, and award them each a $100 bursary.

"In memory of the Association's founder, who passed away in September 1994 at the age of 95, Kin Canada established the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund, the purpose of which is to promote, encourage and sponsor educational programs and activities. Kin Canada Bursaries, a program of the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund, provides financial assistance to eligible persons in their quest for higher learning."

Special thanks to Kinsmen members John Madill, Vince Thiessen and Kevin Sauteur for researching and bringing forward this service request.

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg will be attending the Special Olympics Manitoba 25th Anniversary Dinner on April 23rd 2005. The dinner is in support of Special Olympics Manitoba, and will also be an opportunity for Kinsmen members and their significant others to get together for an nice, social event.

We will also be sponsoring an entire table for Special Olympics athletes to attend the dinner as well. This will allow many of the Special Olympics athletes to socialize and get to know other members of our club.

The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg has been involved with Special Olympics Manitoba since the beginning, so this marks our own 25th Anniversary of involvement with Special Olympics Manitoba.

Wanda's Trip Expenses for Medical Procedure in London, ON

Wanda, a resident of Brandon Manitoba, was in need of a medical procedure to control her racing heart. Living with this heart condition has been extremely difficult for her, due to the constant heart monitoring and different medications.

The waiting time for this procedure in Manitoba can be many months, sometimes over a year. The medical procedure would be covered if done out of province, but the travel expenses would not be covered.

An opportunity came up for Wanda to receive treatment right away in London, Ontario. The Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg will be covering Wanda's travel expenses using the club's accumulated Air Miles.
