Twenty-Six volunteers from the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg were out bright and early this morning, serving a fantastic meal, provided by the club, to the patrons of Agape Table (Broadway & Colony). With a $3000 donation from the club, area residents were served a meal of Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Mixed Veggies, and a hard boiled egg. Everyone also got a fresh apple, misc. pies, coffee, juice & Iced Tea. Some 350 area residents attended the affair. Kinsmen volunteers received a great many heatfelt thank-you's & god bless you's. One fellow, "Fred", even made a thank-you card and presented it to one of the volunteers.
Thanks to the following club members/guests that came out to spend some time "Serving the Communitiy's Greatest Need". Kevin, Peter, Lorne, Tom, Tim M., Guy, Brad, John, Burke, Len, Raj, Terry, Vince, Ken, Paul, Doris, Thersa, Aldora, Lloyd M., Brian M., Kayla, Marissia, Imelda, Mike J., Arlene & Tina.
Founded in 1980 by a volunteer Board of Directors, Agape Table was established to serve free hot meals to people in the inner city. The need for this service has risen and today, 25 years later, Agape Table still serves a hot meal at the breakfast hour.
Guests of Agape Table are single parents, the working poor, expecting mothers, unemployed, children, seniors, people with disabilities, and other people without food.
